12 yr old DD just not right

Afternoon everyone

I am a little worried about my DD who will be 13 next month

Yesterday she wet herself as she all of a sudden needed to pee and just couldnt make it to the toilet - this is the first time this has happened but she says she just feels off at the moment plus over the last couple of weeks she has had moments of blurry vision actually causing her to slip over last week at school but she didnt tell me that was the reason she fell until this morning - she says she is thirsty more and she is eating more than she has done previously but looks thinner - I am going to weigh her when she is home from school to see if she has lost weight

also she has blisters on the back of her heels ( from some new shoes) and they are taking ages to heal fully been 2 weeks now - she does seem tired at the moment but she is a competitive dancer and so does train for around 14 hours a week so its difficult to gauge whether the tiredness is from that

she is not drinking or peeing excessively by normal standards but bit more than usual for her - she always was a nightmare for not drinking enough and she never normally has to go to the toilet a lot but definitely going more at the moment

looking up these symptoms they are all on the list for potential diabetes but it always sounds like the child is so tired they cant do anything and that the thirst is excessive and that ther are peeing constantly so I do wonder as she is still doing her dance training and competing could she really have diabetes - could it be something else??

Any thoughts or ideas welcome - thank you in advance

Any pain having a wee? You say she wet her self. Was it fully or just a little? Had she any control to stop it once she started to pee? What colour is her wee? And any blood in it? Could also be a UTI but I think the blurred vision and falling over could be different or potentially all concerted. Has she only lost bladder control once ? And was it just bladder?

When she fell over at school what was she doing before that? Sitting down or walking around? If she was sitting down and then stood up and moved off it could also be postural hypotension - low blood pressure on changing position.

I'd take her to the doctor sooner rather than later.

I would make an appointment with the GP asap to rule out diabetes or anything else.

Diabetes or uti spring to mind, but I'd definitely be getting a urine sample and going to gp or walk in centre tonight.

Id call your GP now or if its to late try 111 after 6pm for an OOH apt x As @Chupchup and @BabyST said could be both

thank you everyone for your comments - no pain when she wees and it was only the once that she had an accident and only a wee not sure how much or what colour her urine was will try and get a sample tomorrow morning

She was just walking along when she slipped and the blurriness only happens for 30 secs to a minute and then its fine again - she thinks this has happened a 2/3 times a week for the last couple of weeks

I weighed her when she got home and it doesnt appear that she has lost any weight as she weighs a couple pound more than when I last weighed her 4 months ago which I would expect as she has grown an inch or so over the summer - she just looks slimmer so possibly just a change in shape ???

I am going to try doctors in the morning its a nightmare getting an appt but if I say what it is for - I will speak to my husband when he gets home as well see if he thinks we should call 111 or take her out of hours ( I dont drive and our out of hours is at the hospital I think) - she is tired but was at a dance competition all day yesterday and has gone to dance tonight as normal - I will have to tell him about her having an accident but will say not to mention it to her as she was upset and embarrassed

Aww bless her. I know it will be hard for her to have her Dad know but as a family you can support her. I would say to the receptionist you have to fight with in the morning that she has had that one episode of not getting to the loo on time and hopefully she will give you an urgent appointment. Good Luck and hope and pray its an infection or something minor x
