Hi, we have recently been to an appt at the hospital with our 2 year old girl, she isn't mobile at all and the doctor did suggest that it may be a good idea for her to have regular vitamin D especially now it's getting into autumn etc

She said a general multivitamin would be fine, she did mention abidec which we have tried but seems to be hard getting her to take this one; i wondered what others experiences were and which ones might be worth a try?
Also have you found any good ways of giving it?
I had thought about putting it in her bottle (she has 2 formula milks a day still) morning and night, she has never really liked just having whole milk. But she would have to have the whole of the milk to have the correct dose so i am not sure if that’s the best idea as she won't always have it all.

Any advice would be great.

James

You can buy sugar free gummie sweet children's vitamins.

I've also seen spray vitamins which you spray into the mouth - both adult and children versions.

Tesco are going out free vitamin chewies at the pharmacy counters, from age 1 I think.

Actually on looking, the chewable ones are age 3 and over, so the dosing may not be correct.

I use 'Chewy Vites' for my 2 year old DD. Most other chewable ones are 3+ but these are suitable for 1+.

I give my 2 year old Well baby liquid multivitamin (put it in a cup of diluted squash) I usually pick it up in boots or Holland and Barrett

There is a liquid one by Omega I think. You can put it in milk/yoghurt/water/squash.

Vitamin drops might be a good idea.

We used to give abuses but the HV advises against it as it’s really high in sugar. We use gummy ones now but used to put drops in DS bedtime milk.

Abidec not abuses!

I have an orange liquid multivitamin one (haliorange? But have used others too) that we smuggle in a bit of Tropicana. It is once a day so they have a tiny espresso teacup of 'special' OJ at breakfast and makes them feel special using the little cup! Hasn't resulted in a juice/sugar addiction either!
