Clicking Joints and Painful Lungs

Will try and get DD 7 a GP appointment, but takes time in our area.

DD has been complaining of achy legs, wrists etc. They are actually very clicky. She complains they hurt after certain exercise when previously not hurt. Or just hurting in general.

Separately she complains of her lungs hurting every so often. I'm assuming integration but will also mention to GP.

Any experience of similar?

Hi OP

My DD is also 7, and I've booked an appointment with the GP due to painful and clicky joints. She's always been clicky. She used to 'crunch' as a baby when we picked her up, but we were told it was nothing to worry about.

Over the past year or so she's been constantly clicking and rotating her ankle, hip and wrist joints and more recently has been complaining about pain pretty much everywhere - hips, ankles, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck... She's otherwise well, and the pain isn't constant. I suspect the GP will just say that she's a bit hyper-mobile, but I thought I should get her checked out now that it's causing pain / discomfort.

Interestingly, she's also developed a weird cough. For the past couple of months she's been repeatedly doing a single, dry cough, sometimes every few seconds sometimes less often. I thought it was a habit, but maybe not...

GP appointment is next Monday so will let you know what they say.

Managed to get a nurses appointment today.

DD says her blood shoots pain up her arms. Almost sounds like my mum describing her carpal tunnel!

So the nurse thinks growing pains and a bit of joint hypermobility. Wish I didnt google this as I have now seen EDS and it could fit!

DD needs to gain a bit of weight and muscle through swimming and more food. But also needs to reduce martial arts and high impact stuff. She loves this and dance and acrobatics.

Hi @IceniSky
Thank you for the update. Did the nurse mention EDS? I've read a bit about this and have wondered also... although it seems like there's no treatment as such for it anyway.
So the nurse just recommended eating more and doing less high-impact sport? My DD is also skinny, but she eats well. Can't imagine her wanting to eat more TBH...

@BlackInk no mention of EDS, I just Googled! Yeh, DD is fit, not under weight at all, just slight. Tried her recommendation of toast after school, but she doesn't eat dinner!

Just going to reduce the high impact while still doing the classes and see how it goes over next month or two.
