How often to check for headlice?

Just that really. My DD has just started primary school so not really sure of how often I should be checking. I did initially think each day but wondered if that would be hard on her hair? On the other hand I don’t want to leave it too long incase of infestation and not catching it quickly enough.
Thanks Smile

Ugh, if it's anything like my kids' primary then I'd say approximately every 5 fucking minutes. They've been back at school 2 weeks and I had to de-nit at the weekend. It's the luck of the draw though. You might get a class where it's not a problem. On the other hand if you have one classmate who isn't properly de-nitted or keeps getting reinfested then it can be a whole class fucking nightmare for years. I'd go with weekly and see what happens. If you never see any then drop it to less frequently. Brushing through with conditioner and a nit comb won't do any damage though.

ISmellBabies that sounds so bad about your children’s school. I bet there are some parents there who don’t check or de-louse their kids often enough if it’s bad like that.

I’ve got an older child but being a boy and having a grade 1 hair cut and blonde I literally took 10 mins once a week just to be sure as I could see his scalp so would have seen anything. Having a girl with thick dark shoulder length hair this time is all new to me. She won’t wear a ponytail though so can’t help try and prevent that way. I’m hoping that copious amounts of teatree shampoo, conditioner and leave in spray will help prevent them
