Slow healing incision

DD had her appendix removed nearly 5 wks ago, 2 of the incisions have healed really well, the one along the knicker line had an infection 2 weeks after surgery treated by antibiotics but it still doesn't look to be healing like the others, even how they looked a few weeks ago.
It's a very dark purple line/indent where the other 2 were looking like bright pink new skin by now.
It was very itchy as well today and looking red from general skin irritation rather than infection red like before.

Would this be something to check with the nurse at the gp surgery rather than the gp, don't want to take up an appointment if its fine just needing more time, but don't want to miss something either with the weekend coming up.

Hiya,

I son had his out in May. The wounds took about 4-6 weeks to heal. The stitch in the bottom one again like your DD on his underwear line was painful because of the band pressing. All his incisions stayed clean thankfully. He now has an indent above his belly button.

How old is your daughter? Sounds like the wound is healing and the purple bit is the scab about to fall off. Once that happens it should be find I hope x is it still tender for her? It's not very comfortable as I say with the band pressing on it. X

She's 9, there's no scab on this one, the other two did scab but this is just an indent.
There was a small hole when it was infected and that bit looks a very pale whiteish purple.
Think I'll give it another week and see what it's looking like then.

I hope this might help x I know it's not the incision your on about but my DS op was on the 15th May and this is how his scars are now. I'm not sure why he has a little hole in his scar sounds almost the same as your DD

That looks like it's healed really well.
My DD's just doesn't look like the edges have come together so it's indented and is healing slightly further in.
The good thing is that looked at it tonight it doesn't seem as angry and purple so will see how it goes over the next week

Ohh I see what you mean! It looks as if they haven't even stitched it and it's just healing on its own. Have you gently pulled it apart to see if it's healing underneath?

Looks to me that it just hasn't been stitched right just like mine DS belly button incision but it's not like your DD at all x

Get your nurse or GP to take a look if you're worried at all.

I had an infection on my c section scar which took ages to heal and ended up looking similar to your Dds. It's now slightly indented but doesn't look too bad. I don't think they can do much to force it to heal on the top anyway. They said to me that it's better to heal inside towards out because you definitely aren't left with gaps on the inside then. (not sure how true that is!).
