Hello, first post!
My 3 year old has been passing mucus in the afternoons for about 4 months now. After several tips to the GP we have now been referred to a gastroenterologist but in the meantime I’m beside myself with worry and wondered if anyone had a similar experience?
My DS is 3 and has been potty trained for 9 months. He had gastroenteritis as a baby and secondary lactose intolerance as a result. By 2yo he was back on all dairy products and fine. This spring and summer he had terrible hay fever and suddenly started passing mucus. Always in the afternoon and not every day, he would go two or three weeks clear then have it lasting a few days. Always starting after 3pm and then stopping overnight and gone in the morning. He’s starting to notice and getting embarrassed as it often results in passing mucus in his underwear. It’s always accompanied by lots of wind. He’s not in pain and an extremely active and happy boy. He eats loads and bowel movements are fine (and huge!!) and regular. He will say his belly hurts before passing wind and then say all better. IBS runs in my family and it seems like this. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.
