Dd has woken up with this rash. She’s itching like crazy and doesn’t have any other symptoms. Does anyone know what it could be? We haven’t changed anything like washing powder or soap and she hasn’t eaten anything out of the ordinary.
The weird thing is, a couple of weeks ago I had the same rash and it needed steroid cream to get rid of it. Still can’t think what caused it.

It looks to me like a reaction to something she has come into contact with. (My DD is sensitive to chlorine and had a rash very similar to that from swimming.) Am I right in thinking that it's all on her back? Has she perhaps been lying somewhere with no shirt on? e.g. on a patch of grass? In any case, my DD's problem was solved by applying a rich cream to restore the skin barrier. It took some time but it worked.

(PS The cream we were recommended to use was Cetaphil Restoraderm. It's very expensive to buy initially but goes a long way.)

Thank you, I was thinking it must be an allergic rash. She hasn’t been anywhere with her top off though, or swimming, or doing anything out of the ordinary. She’s had half a cetirizine and it is less red now but all the spots are very visible. I suppose it’ll always be a mystery what caused it.

My DCs tend to get this when they've been really hot and sweaty, it does look like heat rash to me. A cool bath and plenty of water to drink normally calms it down.

Also, I avoid putting any barrier creams on it because they don't allow the skin to breathe which makes it worse!

Aah.. she has had heat rash before and it is similar if not the same rash. I’ll give her a quick bath now and maybe just put some calamine lotion on. She did stay at mil’s the night before last and it was a much thicker duvet than what she’s used to. Maybe it’s from that.
