Anti vaccination

Are there any parents here that have chosen to not vaccinate their children? I've given birth to my first child and after making extensive research I'm sitting on a fence. Any opinions on this subject would be very helpful x

🧐😤

marcopront · 29/08/2019 04:30

This will go well

It has been asked so many times.

No one has ever given a link to a proper scientific journal that suggests not vaccinating is good.

Ponchie · 29/08/2019 04:31

Get off the fence and vaccinate your child

DumpTrump · 29/08/2019 04:34

Got off the fence and get your child vaccinated! Why on earth would you not do that?! Unless there is a specific medical reason not to then not vaccinating your child should be treated as child neglect.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 29/08/2019 04:38

Making extensive research? As in conducting a medical study, or reading on the internet?

inboxmayhem · 29/08/2019 04:43

Extensive research? Jesus wept get off the fence and protect your child.

I like my kids alive. I suggest your research that.

cherryblossomgin · 29/08/2019 04:45

Children are dying because they aren't vaccinated. Europe has a measles outbreak and the UK has lost its measles free status. Why would you not protect your child?

What are the risks that outweigh the benefits.

strawberrysweets · 29/08/2019 04:47

Vaccinate your child.

IggyAce · 29/08/2019 04:48

I suggest you research the side effects of all the diseases that you can vaccinate against. Realise that you don’t want them to DIE from a preventable disease and get off the fence and vaccinate your child.

cherryblossomgin · 29/08/2019 04:50

Also the reason the autism was linked to vaccines was due to the age that some children started to shows signs or missing development milestones and people looked for a reason. It was proven that vaccines had nothing to do with it.

costacoffeecup · 29/08/2019 04:50

Don't be silly. And do an advanced search for the numerous other threads on the same topic if you are genuine.

Zoflorabore · 29/08/2019 05:03

MN is very pro vaccine on the whole and for good reason.

My ds was diagnosed with ASD when he was 8, the same year I had dd, now 16 and 8.
Not once did I think of not vaccinating her because I know there is no link between autism and vaccinations.

If you don't vaccinate your child then you risk them contracting illnesses that could potentially kill them. Blunt maybe? Also very true.

Your child has no say in the matter. You do. Don't be fooled by the scare mongering, these anti-vaxxers in very much in the minority and need their heads testing.

saywhatwhatnow · 29/08/2019 05:09

For what reasons are you considering not vaccinating your child against diseases that could ultimately kill them or leave them with lifelong side effects?

Oomph · 29/08/2019 05:13

Vaccinate your child

Sunny1990 · 29/08/2019 05:14

Please advise what your research has been.

Also please think about the other children with lower immunity.

BrexitBingoGenerator · 29/08/2019 05:53

So, you’ve sat on the internet for a while and decided that your google searches trump the expertise of medical professionals?

If you don’t vaccinate your child, they could die of a preventable disease.

If you don’t vaccinate your child, someone else’s child could die of a preventable disease.

Surely that is all the internet research you need?

AlphaLemon · 29/08/2019 06:26

What research? The only research should be reading scientific journal articles where the scientists have done the research for us

user1480880826 · 29/08/2019 06:38

If you’re in the fence about your child getting life threatening and life altering diseases then you shouldn’t be having a child.

Unvaccinated kids also put other people in massive danger. Imagine if your child contracts a disease and spends days spreading it around to everyone they meet? There are lots of people out there who are at risk of disease through no fault of their own - newborn babies who are too young to have their vaccinations, people with compromised immune systems due to cancer or other illness.

In some countries unvaccinated kids can’t go to school. I’m hoping the UK adopts this approach soon.

RebeccaRae · 29/08/2019 06:44

What are your concerns, OP? If you can explain why you're anxious about vaccinations, we might be able to provide relevant information.

Lexilooo · 29/08/2019 06:44

Wow! Don't you like your baby? Why on earth would you knowingly expose someone you love to serious illness and even death?

Tojigornot · 29/08/2019 06:47

Extensive research??? Tell us about it then. I need a laugh today.

MustardScreams · 29/08/2019 06:47

What ‘extensive research’ have you actually done? Because there are zero peer-reviewed articles that are against vaccination.

Have you spoken to qualified medical professionals? Or have you just been googling mommy blogs and read that essential oils are useful?

Honestly, are you seriously risking your child’s life for non-research? People like you shouldn’t have kids. It’s inexcusable.

titnomatani · 29/08/2019 06:52

Vaccinate your poor baby FFS. Sick of threads like these.

scaevola · 29/08/2019 06:52

If you have 'made extensive research' do you mean you are an immunologist, epidemiologist, or a research doctor or other scientist?

What were your terms of reference for your literature searches, and which databases did you interrogate?

If you cannot answer those questions confidently and comprehensively, then you probably haven't done my research, let alone extensively.

Looking things up online isn't a substitute for actual research. You might like to look at what the World Health Organisation yes about the striking levels of online misinformation, and how it is linked to Russian trolls
