Baby boy born with shorter foreskin- anyone else’s DS has this problem?

DS is 4 months and we have our first consult with a paeds doctor in 2 weeks. When he was born, it was mentioned by the midwife that he had some excess skin on the end of his penis then subsequent doctors/HV/midwives mentioned it in passing. At his 8 week check, the doctor said he wanted to refer him to the paeds team as it looks like his foreskin is too short so doesn’t cover the tip of his penis. I’m guessing it looks similar to a circumcised penis.
It doesn’t appear to cause him any pain and is quite loose, just too short to pull over the rest of his penis.
I’ve had a look online (as you do lol) but can’t see much about this scenario- most issues seem to be that the foreskin is too tight or there’s excess skin.
Hopefully it won’t be a problem but I feel sorry for the little guy having people chatting about his bits! And hopefully it won’t cause him issues for when he’s older!

Hi Willow. My son was born with hypospadias, chordee and dorsal hood (incomplete foreskin) with penile tension (it all looked a bit twisted). Is there any evidence of chordee or hypospadias? I imagine that might be why you've been referred as incomplete foreskin can indicate hypospadias or cause chordee, can you see his urethra? Sometimes if the foreskin isn't formed correctly it can create chordee, once circumcision is done it 'frees' it up and the chordee is no longer present. It could just be incomplete foreskin too with no other issues. Sorry I hope that helps! Try not to worry although I know it's difficult x

He doesn’t have any issues weeing- that was the initial reaction from most healthcare people and when they saw he could, they didn’t do much. There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong aside from the end of his penis is always visible where the foreskin is too short. It ends before the tip, which makes it look like I imagine a circumcised penis would look like (never seen on in person haha!) I don’t know what they could potentially do as there’s nothing to cut back or anything? I’m just worried that it might make it extra sensitive or be painful if it pulls back even more when he’s older I guess?
Did they manage to help your son ok? No one ever talks about these things and it’s something that I think should be at least discussed more openly with healthcare professionals! Google is not the best when left to your own imagination!

Hi my son was born with hypospadias and had an operation to fix it when he was one. Happy to chat if you want any info.

My son had hypospadia too, only partially formed foreskin, nothing affected by though just didn't look right. They spotted it at birth, got referred to hospital at 6 week check, he had an operation at 18 months old. Lovely lady surgeon rebuilt the foreskin and now you can't tell he was ever any different. I always assumed they would circumcise but apparently not - they always try to rebuild where possible.

Oh and he's 12 now, no issues since the operation whatsoever

@Willowtree31 Oo I see so there's nothing wrong with it then haha. A circumcised foreskin doesn't have any extra skin so from your description it isn't like that. Perhaps they just want to make sure it isn't too tight? X

Adult men definitely have a very big range of foreskin size, including appearance of "collar down" at rest. It sounds as if the GP are just being cautious as they haven't seen it in a baby. If there are no other abnormalities I would be surprised if this turned out to be anything concerning.
