I should start by saying I'm not overly worried or else I would've gone back to GP already. Since birth my little one has had a rattle in his throat that comes and goes. At 3 months my HV advised GP appointment. I explained I breastfeed him, burp him and let him nap shortly after. GP thought it was silent reflux and prescribed Gaviscon. Didn't help. I worked out he gets this rattle not necessarily after feeding but especially after he cries /complains. At 4 monthsish he developed the skill of coughing. Great, rattle gone. But now he might have a slight cold, and the rattle is constant. His nose has no snot and yet coughing and swallowing doesn't clear it so it must be right in the sinuses. He's almost 5 months now btw. Please advise. Why is he such a mucus-y baby?

Time to go back to the GP then. My dgd had symptoms similar to your baby and diagnosed with asthma at 11 months.

@sue51 thanks for the reply. I'll defo ask about it. I think allergies might also be an option although noone in my family has asthma or is allergic to anything so it'd be strange.

My dc had what we thought was a cough/cold at about 8ish months old and was so full of mucus that they had to be admitted to hospital to have it sucked out by nurses but it turned out they had RSV so was also put on feeding tube and until they could breath and feed properly. We were told that babies under one aren't efficient enough at clearing there throats/chests and it can cause difficulties breathing etc.
Hope your LO is feeling better soon

@yellowitsme thanks for your reply. I will definitely keep pushing for it to be looked at if he continues to be so mucous-y. As I'm certain he has a cold, I've been advised to use saline drops and snufflebabe rub so fingers crossed he manages to clear his throat soon.
