GP said get her eyes retested and said possible tension head or migraines (we have an appointment booked at optician this month )
She cries as it’s getting her down being in pain most of the time.
She described pain as like the pain when you crick your neck but in her head. She sometimes gets funny eyes too.
It’s been going on a while now and is worrying.
Any ideas anyone ?

Keep a headache diary
Get eyes tested you can walk ina highstreet store sooner why wait ?
If continues gp can prescribe some meds
Contact migraine trust
Ask to see paediatrician to rule out anything

Do painkillers help, or not?

BikeRunSki · 06/08/2019 23:08

Get an eye test elsewhere!

StinkySaurus · 06/08/2019 23:09

Are they drinking enough water? Might be a simple fix?

Didicat · 06/08/2019 23:19

Do painkillers help or change the pain?

Rewy · 07/08/2019 07:33

Headache diary will do , hadn’t thought of that.
Painkillers take the edge of the pain. But don’t take it away.
I’m constantly telling her to drink more because I did think it could be related.
The pain seems to spike more around her time of the month so could be hormonal related?

I have lots and lots of headaches. Almost always related to my sight and prescription changing slightly. I agree with the previous poster who said get her an earlier optician's appointment.

Rewy · 07/08/2019 13:31

I managed to get her eyes tested. I went into a few different Opticians and there was a cancellation.
They said there is a tiny change in her prescription so probably won’t be that giving her headache. Going to try her with the new glasses.
Will try and speak to GP again as well because her head bad again today. Also keeping a diary now.
Thankyou for suggestions.

Lookup GOSH headache diary online and fill.in
my dd migraines started age 12
It s a typical pattern
Keep.diary keep.on at gp to.refer to paediatrician.
Pead can refer to tertiary headache clinic in London GOSH is good
No easy fix but propranolol worked really well for dd for a few years

I had migraine as a teen, and they put me on a daily tablet that helped reduce frequency a lot. No idea what it was called.

Are the headaches remaining the same in intensity of pain or getting worse?

Rewy · 08/08/2019 21:47

The pain can vary .

Maybe look back to when it started and see if anything happened before headaches started - a fall or knock to her head? Or it could be menstrual migraine?
