Sorry but this post is very tmi!!

Been having trouble with Ds poos. He's 11 months and for the past two months hes had some horrible nappies, from awful diarrhoea to watery mucus. We've been to the doctors with him and they took a swab but it came back as normal.
This evening he's done a horrible green poo with lots of bits in it, I pulled at one of this bits on his bum and this came out!!! I'm sorry again this is all tmi!!

Leek

AngelasAshes · 02/08/2019 22:52

It’s not a tape worm. I’ve seen them IRL.
A tape worm is segmented and flat. The main worm will not come out without taking a dewormer to cause it to let go.
Symptoms of tape worms is when eggs within a segment of primary tape worm hatch. The baby tape worms then get passed out in the stool. These look like flat wriggly grains of uncooked orzo (short grain rice if not familiar with orzo)

What you have there is probably the leek, it is clearly vegetable matter.

As for sons stool fluctuating so much it might be in response to the different foods you give him. He’s already had a swab and it’s normal so there isn’t an infection going on. Try keeping a food diary. He might be sensitive to lactose or citrus.

My niece had tapeworm it looked nothing like that. That is leek.

Have you looked in to a dairy intolerance? His poops sound very similar to what you would expect due to dairy intolerance. Definitely see the doctor about what came put of his poo.

And yet we all clicked on it. Grin

It’s definitely concerning that his dinner is coming out of him so quickly after being eaten. I think I’d definitely pursue the intolerance angle.

My daughter had the mucus and diarrhoea too. She is dairy intolerant.

littlebird88 · 02/08/2019 23:54

banana for sure.

Emptyspacex · 03/08/2019 09:13

Of course I'll be ringing the gp Monday I just wanted people opinion on what it was as its a Friday evening.
I'll defiently do a poo diary. I'm thinking diary or gluten.
How do they test for that?

Dairy intolerance is confirmed by an elimination diet rather than a test, so cutting all dairy/soy (soy can elicit the same response depending on whether the intolerance is to lactose or cows milk protein) for a few weeks and seeing if symptoms clear up. I can't advise you on the gluten though sorry.

Coeliac disease is tested first with a blood test and confirmed with an endoscopy.

Bwekfusth · 03/08/2019 13:07

Take him to the doctors regarding his trouble with poos. But not because of that piece of leek, as I'm 100% certain that's what it is.
