Can dental braces help this?

This is my 8 year old. Dentist has been talking about overcrowding for years, so we're prepared for orthodontist work etc., but I'm a bit concerned about about the front right tooth (as you're looking at pic).

Although the pic looks as though the tooth has not come through as much as the one next to it - it actually has, but the tooth starts much further up the gum, so way up behind top lip (hope that makes sense). I'm just worried that this will need more intervention than braces. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks.

One of mine had a front tooth that came through really high, it slotted into place eventually. There were no other issues though.

That's good to head bernie, thank you.

My ds has an expander fitted, it was amazing. It made enough space for all the teeth to drop into place with a few well placed hooks to help things along.

Yeah - braces can pull a tooth down - my DD has just had this done.

Thanks boom. That's reassuring. I feel so bad I hadn't quite realised myself that the tooth had almost fully come in, but higher up Blush

My 8 year old is the same. She only has 8 big teeth and the dentist has said severe overcrowding and talked about referral once she is old enough. My DH currently has braces on for his overcrowding and the difference is amazing so I'm sure it is something they can fix. As he says, his teeth have been on the wrong place for 30 years! :-)

My ds had teeth that came in way too high, but sorted themselves out without a brace - its amazing how teeth can move

Thanks for all your responses, they are all very reassuring. X

Yes. My DD has 2 ectopic canines - they are high up in her gum. The Orthodontist will send her for surgery to expose them and then attach chains to them to draw them down. Your DC has the tooth in the right position by the look of it, so will just need to be drawn down slightly.
