My poor, sweet 8yo daughter had a very simple fall in a playground last week with devastating effects.
She knocked out one adult tooth and the 2 either side are barely hanging in. Parts of her gum and bone are basically missing. After hours at A and E and the emergency dentist they splinted the teeth in place. Today we went for a review and have been told at least 2 teeth will be lost and possibly a third.
They explained it isn’t possibly to do a bridge to fix them ‘permanently’ as there is nothing to fix it too. So she will have to have dentures until she is 18 and stops growing when more permanent repairs can be made.
Obviously we are devastated and I cannot believe my poor baby will be given dentures until she is 18 years old. I am so concerned about her teenage years and how she will deal with this - at sleepovers, school overnight trips, boyfriends and so on.
Anyway, I am looking for advice really. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an amazing private dentist out there? Is there another option?
On top of the teeth, she also has massive lacerations that properly will end up needing work in the long term too. She is petrified and still in shock and I am at a loss.
Thank you in advance.
