But she doesn’t have (yet) rash or aversion to lights. She has been sick one evening yesterday, she’s very hot, sleepy and dizzy. She also says her eyes feel stiff.
I will obviously keep checking for meningitis symptoms but wonder if the stiff neck can be attributable to a milder condition. When I google fever and stiff neck, only meningitis is mentioned.

So pleased you went to A&E.
My dad was a dr and I always remember ‘chin to chest’ whenever we were ill. He then visibly relaxed and wandered off.

Decormad38 · 28/07/2019 14:01

Get her seen. My friends son nearly lost his life a month ago. He had meningococcal septicaemia. She's a nurse and got him to hospital quick. He didn't have a rash either!

Haggisfish · 28/07/2019 14:02

How frightening for you all. Hope she recovers quickly.

Shakennotshook · 28/07/2019 14:31

Sounds terrifying, glad shes on the mend and you got her seen quickly.

As an aside, I had the same symptoms and no rash. It was viral meningitis and utterly horrendous. It's always best to get seen with those symptoms, rash or not.

Thanks for all of your good wishes and comments. She’s ho e and the nurse is coming later togive more antibiotic.
She’s actually making pancakes with her dad and with MIL so hopefully there’ll be no relapse.

Glad she's home.

Hope she continues to improve quickly and well.

Zoflorabore · 06/08/2019 21:03

Thank goodness for that op. I didn't want to say earlier but when I was 16 my friend died from meningococcal scepticaemia after presenting with these symptoms but with the rash. She was in Alder Hey for a week and fought it hard but sadly she didn't make it.

I have always thought of her in the years since when I hear about stiff necks, high temps etc. Better safe than sorry.

So glad your dd is ok.

These aren't watch and wait symptoms, go to A&E.

BabyST · 14/08/2019 17:32

Don't bother calling 111 in my experience they just send an 999 ambulance. Your better off take direct to A&E. All the best good luck.
