My DD9 has been suffering with this for about 3 months now and unfortunately because it's at the top of her thighs it's rubbing on clothing and becoming really sore. The doctor told me to leave it and it should clear up on its own however it seems to be getting worse and spreading down her legs.
I've ordered MolluDab last night from Amazon. I'd be grateful to hear of anyone else's experience using this and If it's been a success. Thank you.

Thank you for the replies, this has become a real concern.
DD's are difficult to cover due to being at the top of her legs so I might give the spray on plasters a try. As they're all clumped together if I was to cover one with a plaster the sticky bit would be on other spots so would be painful to remove.

If it is looking inflamed or bothering your child go back to gp. One of my dc had this for a year. At one point had over 100 spots. We got that medication from GP. Also fusidin for the inflamed ones. Go back to your doctor for more advice.

LongtimeLurker2 · 03/08/2019 07:58

Thank you I will, I did phone on Friday for appointment however after explaining the receptionist said they didn't have an appointment and it wasn't urgent enough to come in after surgery, her advice was to go to hospital but I felt it wasn't a hospital case. I will get the next available appointment and go back.
The worry really for me is then spreading upwards and that would make a bad situation worse.

Get her to wear cycling shorts to stop them rubbing on the other leg and spreading across

@Longtimelurker2

My dc was in tears with the pain on application but as we started early we probably only had about 30-40 spots to deal with. I would apply the molludab to about 4 spots at a time and by the time I got to the third "dab" the first was starting to burn so I'd stop and blow on the area I'd been dabbing at. This seemed to help or maybe it was just taking their mind off it. one the pain had subsided we'd move on to another batch of 3 or 4. Dc wanted to persist with treatment despite the tears as they were massively embarrassed by the spots and other kids reaction to them plus the name Molluscum Contagiosum seemed to upset them too.
Once the spots went red it appeared that the immune system was on the case and we eased off with the treatment, it was great to see the spots fade so much sooner than the timescale indicated by the GP's just leave them alone and wait approach.

Despite the harshness of Molludab, dc was left with no scarring as we never squeezed any of the spots.

LongtimeLurker2 · 04/08/2019 19:38

Thank you for that response that does make me feel a bit better about it as my DD's are red and swollen so fingers crossed her immune system has started to kick in.
I'm pleased your daughters are gone and no scarring left over. We also have not tried to squeeze any of them so it's good to hear that this did work for you. Xx

@LongtimeLurker2

How did your dd get on with the Molludab ?

Oblomov19 · 10/09/2019 16:57

Makes me cross that GP's etc tell people to leave them.
Agree with others that once they burst/ you pick them, then cover in Molludab, which stings badly, but only then does the body seem to recognise that it needs to fight this virus.

But why make children suffer so long. Makes me well cross! AngryAngryAngry

GoodBoyGhost · 10/09/2019 17:04

When my eldest DC got them, I was told to leave them then but I wasn't willing to let them spread to I used to pop two or three at a time, with a sterile needle and gloves then pop tea tree over them and cover with a plaster. They were gone with a week or two.

Inver38 · 26/09/2019 13:50

@GoodBoyGhost can I ask how old your eldest is?
My son still has this and it’s gone from 3/4 to 20. They are on his neck and shoulder and I’m worried they will spread to his face.
I feel like I need to do something rather than just leave them.

Legomadx2 · 26/09/2019 13:56

If you can afford it GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST AND GET THEM FROZEN OFF.

I, like @Oblomov19 get the RAGE that people let their children suffer when GPs say they'll go away and they don't.

Go and get them frozen off privately and that will be the end of it. Wish I'd done it years ago instead of listening to my GP fobbing me off.

Orpy40 · 26/09/2019 14:29

Took my ds (11) to get them frozen off last Saturday with a Cryopen and so far absolutely nothing has happened.. They are looking exactly the same 😫

Inver38 · 26/09/2019 15:39

He’s only 4, feels like he’s had them for so long already!

GoodBoyGhost · 29/09/2019 11:14

@inver my son was about 7 I think. I didn't want them going on his face either which is what motivated me to tackle them

Applejack87 · 30/09/2019 09:14

My daughter had this awful virus behind her knees which she was very conscious of as kids & parents would question what it was .
I tried everything to get rid of it to no avail
I’m not sure if it took its course and went but I started giving her Sambucol daily within weeks the molluscum started to clear anything is worth a go .

Molluscum Contagiosum
Inver38 · 06/10/2019 09:42

I’ve been on YouTube and a few there suggest the duct tape approach but as they are on his neck I don’t feel I can do that!
I had been thinking my only option is numbing and popping but again it’s
because they are on his neck.
Thanks @Applejack87 I’ve just ordered it, it’s worth a go and at least I’m trying something.

Applejack87 · 06/10/2019 10:34

I wouldn't pop them as they are highly contagious & spread quickly .. I tried the vinegar at the beginning but it burnt the skin & made the pain worse , duct tape didn't do anything apart from cause more irritation .T tree oil didn't help either. I feel so sorry for any child that ahs this awful virus as there is no real cure apart from time and not touching .. The above Sambuccol can be purchased in Boots chemist it tastes revolting but I seen an improvement pretty quickly .. Good luck
