DD (3) was up in the night shaking, limbs on fire, slightly delirious. She's not eaten today. No temp throughout this - she's had calpol, profen and antihistamine And has done a small wee this morning. Now in bed with her iPad under the covers. She looks swollen in the face and keeps saying she's hot. Any ideas?

I'd go to OOH to get her checked

DonPablo · 07/07/2019 10:41

You need to get her checked out op.

SheChoseDown · 07/07/2019 10:47

Wtf???? We can't help, get her to a Dr

titchy · 07/07/2019 10:50

Mumps?

cherryblossomgin · 07/07/2019 10:56

Is she vaccinated? Could it be mumps.

BarbarAnna · 07/07/2019 11:00

Please go get her checked out today.

111

igglepigglegingin · 07/07/2019 11:11

The reason why I'm asking is because she looks and is acting ok, no temp, etc. She's not an immediate emergency (she has asthma so spend a lot of time in a&e and hospital so well acquainted with the out of hours system) and was hoping someone might have had a similar experience.

Could be anything from heatstroke to something more serious but get her checked over, kids can go downhill quickly at that age.

Nautiloid · 07/07/2019 11:16

I would take mine to be seen in that scenario with the swollen face.

QuickQuestion2019 · 07/07/2019 12:58

I agree, this is an out of hours doc situation, due to the swelling

Quartz2208 · 07/07/2019 18:22

are you sure she doesnt have a temp?

Haworthia · 07/07/2019 18:23

No temp? Why have you given her Calpol and ibuprofen then?

igglepigglegingin · 07/07/2019 18:39

She had one dose of each because she was so hot - I'd rather be on the safe side that we'd given her a dose than ignored a high temperature in the middle of the night that for some reason hadn't shown on our thermometer.
She now has a temp (lowish at 38) - the first one since shes been ill - so she's had both doses again and I'll take her to the doctor.

I was confused by what you said, that’s all. I got the impression that she’d had no fever at all.

pying · 08/07/2019 19:29

You can give calpol and Ibruprofen for reasons other than a temp though so even if she didn't have a temp, it would make sense. They're pain relievers as well as anti-pyretics.

OP: how is she now? Did you find out what it was? Hope she's ok.
