Please is there anyone who has had a similar experience, would like to hear from you!

My 7 year old daughter has a lump behind one of her nipples. We noticed about 2 weeks ago. Only hurts when touched. Tonight noticed it is bigger.

Gp ordered blood test and scan and referred her to paeditrician as they didn't know what it was.

No discharge or any other symptoms.

Worried about premature puberty. I was 9 when I started feeling lumps behind nipples and period started when I was almost 12. She's only 7! No other puberty symptoms except I had noticed on her arms and legs there is more hair than she used to have.

Hospital gave her an appointment for 3 months time!!!! Has anyone else had similar experience, just so I have an idea of all the possibilities.

Thank you

My dd had the same about age 8, doctor just said it was her buds. She is 13 now and he was correct.

I hope all goes well

Yes sounds like breast buds.

My mum took me to the GP when I was 9 about them bevause she didn't know what they were and I'm still cringing about it 20 years later

Busymummy50 · 03/07/2019 22:44

But 7 sounds too young??

My daughter started premature puberty inc breast buds at 6. She’s now nearly 11 and puberty is progressing normally, and I’m pleased to say she hasn’t started her periods yet. So although this seems awful it doesn’t have to mean your dd is going to be instantly catapulted into teenagehood just yet. Smile

My DS actually had them at 7! The GP said it was common in boys, although not usually until a little older, so DS piped up "I'm a bit like a moody teenager though aren't i?!"

Try not to worry, if it is the onset of puberty she won't be the only one - these days girls seem to be starting earlier than they used to, so given your own timescales, it wouldn't be unusual for it to be just a couple of years away.

Thanks every one. Gp ordered blood test and scan before seeing paediatrician. Did your daughters have tests too to make sure everything was fine?

Just a quick message to say that these things sometimes come and go for a while.
My DD has a bud at 8, and then it went away again (she's now 9, and back to flat!)

Breast luno gas come and gone a few times but this time it is much bigger and nipple is swollen that it looks as though the nipple is inverted. Is this normal?

Another vote for breast buds. My DD's appeared when she was about 7 - just one to start with. Felt like a small pebble. 10 now and she's starting to develop and there are lumps behind both nipples. Sometimes they feel bigger, sometimes get smaller.

Busymummy50 · 17/05/2020 00:24

It's just one side though and noticeably bigger. In the past was just a small lump. She's also complaining of pain

Yes, my DD just got one to start with and was bigger than the other nipple. And sometimes it was sore. Now she's older, it's both sides, and still sometimes she gets soreness. I also remember the same thing happening to me when I was little- funding a lump and my mum taking me to the dr and it was exactly the same thing.
I know lumps are really worrying but I'm sure it'll turn out to be a breast bud - I know of so many friends who've had the same with their DD. And it doesn't mean she's going to suddenly launch into puberty. X
