Chickenpox vaccine given when child might already have chickenpox!!

I'm hoping so one might be able to give some advice here.

Today I took my 3 year old for the chickenpox vaccine and tonight while I was bathing him I've noticed 3 blister like spots on his body.

He's had no symptoms of chickenpox at all but I'm now worried that if he does already have it then it's going to be much worse because he's got the extra virus from the vaccination.

Can anyone reassure me or share similar experiences??

I'll try and add a picture of one of the spots...

Pretty sure one of its recommended administrations is to reduce symptoms after exposure to the virus. Did they give you a leaflet - should be a helpline to call.

Thank you Foobio, I'll give that a read.

He doesn't seem unwell, I'm just panicking. I guess I can always call 111 if I'm still concerned.

Did you get the vaccine because he'd already been exposed to the virus by someone you know?

This happened to my son. He just had a very mild round of chicken pox. Don't worry!

Nogodsnomasters, no I took him to try and prevent it. Clearly he had been exposed without me knowing. Typical the spots only appear hours after the vaccination.

Thank you GwenFromBudgens, I feel better about it now.

More annoyed that I could have saved myself £75 Grin

What a rotten coincidence then! Hopefully it's mild, my ds didn't seem unwell until the 2nd day of the blisters and only had a temp for about 36 hrs, the rest of the time he was on top form eating/drinking/playing despite being covered scalp to toe and getting one infected pox
