Recurring infections

My LO 2 next month is always getting infections nearly every month: ear, throat, chest all sorts and he always go on antibiotics. I’m finding this not normal and I have been asking the doctors why this keeps happening but the answer has always been it’s normal in children his age. He doesn’t go to nursery either so can’t say he gets it from there, and most of the time he’s rushed to hospital in an ambulance. Has anyone ever went through this with their children ? How did you make them take you serious about your concerns as a parent.

What happens that causes the rush in ambulance? Breathing?

Has she been seen by an ENT or respiratory specialist?

He sorry

Yes Breathing and temp of upto 40. He’s not been seeing by any specialist. They just give him antibiotic and send us home. Then it happens again after a few weeks

Can you get referred to a private specialist? I'd really want to see a respiratory specialist and an ENT. I don't think having that many infections without exposure is normal.

My ds had grommets put in as he had so many ear infections. I had to see a private ENT as the wait publicly was a year. I also took him to a respiratory specialist as he would get chest infections and struggled to breathe. He was diagnosed with asthma. He improved as he got older, but the preventative medication for his asthma also stopped the emergency admissions.

Have they ever tested his sputum? It's possible he's not getting the right antibiotics if they don't identify the bug.

They have never tested his sputum at all they just do X-ray or just examine him and prescribe antibiotic that’s it. Thank you very much this is helpful. i will ask to be referred to a specialist. I’m paying for private health insurance every month
