Newborn gas problem

My 16 day old is a nightmare with gas. Constantly straining and thrashing in pain.

Been to the doctors twice and tried gaviscon and omeprazole but not helped at all.

I'm using mam bottles and cow & gate 1 milk.

Could one of them be the problem? I've read that some formulas cause more wind.

I understand that omeprazole takes a couple of weeks to start working, so perhaps it hasn't been given enough of a chance?

Ranitidine helped us somewhat, but cutting out dairy/cow's milk was the thing that reduced the painful gas. However, that also takes a few weeks to get out of their system once you switch formula/stop eating dairy if you are breastfeeding.

We're combination feeding my 4 week old - breast (both on boob & expressed dependant on situation) and cow & gate 1. The formula does make her a lot windier than breast, she gives us some cracking burps when winded!
Does your LO do the same?

We use tommee tippee bottles so can't comment on MAM but maybe she just takes in too much air from the bottle?

Does anyone else feed your LO? I've found that visitors like to feed the baby but so many of them let her take in far too much air by not holding her/the bottle properly.

Seems very early to be getting omeprazol, weve been fighting for that for 8 months for DS! Anyway, possibly cows milk protein intollerance, reseatch it and see if symptoms match. But new borns tend to be very gassy anyway im affraid

Its horrible seeing her in pain. I dont like pumping medicine into her so young either.

She almost seems wheezy/stuffy too

Does she burp well when you wind her? It does just sound like trapped wind
