Hi
DS ( aged 10) has a tumour which affects his optic nerves and his hypothalamus. We've just been to see the endocrinologist- we've been seeing her since DS turned 9- and she's confirmed he's definitely in puberty.
We're wondering how this will affect his height as he's earlier than average. He's a tall boy, always has been and is now 5ft 2. Genetically he was always likely to be a tall adult - I'm 5 7, his Dad is 6ft and his 15 year old brother is 6 2 and still growing
.
The endocrinologist thinks there will be an impact on his height and he's likely to now be more average height. We're happy with that ( not much we can do!) but I'm worried about him being smaller than that. He has enough other stuff without being short
I know that sounds terrible, but I spend my life wanting to wrap him up in cotton wool.
Has anyone had a son who's gone through puberty earlier than average? How has that impacted his height? We knew he had early signs last year but because he was 9 they wouldn't do anything to halt it
Thanks
