Mild jaundice 7 year old

My 7 year old ds seems to get mild jaundice from time to time. His complexion has more yellow tones in it than my pinky white skin, so I’m not sure if I’m imagining it sometimes. His eyes are never yellow.
This week it coincided with pale clay coloured poo (I don’t know if this was a one off because I’m not usually in the bathroom when he poos!)
It made me worry a bit. He is fine in himself, plenty of energy and pretty chirpy. Does anyone have any experience of this? Should I take him to the gp?

yes you should see a doctor, it could be something serious or maybe nothing but get an appointment and give them a list of symptoms and how long it lasts for and let them decide

Yes, absolutely.

Yes see your GP. I’ve got Gilbert’s syndrome which is totally harmless but causes me to look yellowy when I’m run down. It could be that, but you need some blood tests to rule out more serious kidney and liver issues.

Ok, thank you. I’ll make him an appointment.

Yes you definitely should - pale or clay coloured poop is linked to liver function as is jaundice. My 8 yo has had a string of infections this year was really run down drs asked about his poo and I was like to be honest I don't know as he goes by himself! But he had blood tests which showed up liver function issues so was referred for scans which were all fine thankfully. It was a worrying time!
