14 month old breathes too fast

My baby breathes too fast. Always. Sometimes it’s not as fast as other times but if he is doing something it’s really fast, like he is panting. I don’t know what to do anymore. I have taken him to the doctor so many times and they look at him and say he’s fine. They listen to his chest and his heart and they say he seems happy so it’s probably nothing. But I’m sure it’s something. Does anyone else have any experience with chronic fast breathing? Is there any chance that it’s normal?

Children do breathe a lot faster than adults. At that age the normal breathes per minute is 24-40. That is twice as fast as an adult. If the doctor has checked your babies oxygen levels (with a monitor on the finger), baby isn't lethargic and you can't see their ribs sucking in with effort then I think you need to trust the doctors you have seen. It could possibly be anxiety on your part maybe?

He breathes at least 50 a minute, sometimes 60. The doctor has confirmed this and they always say it’s high but it’s probably fine. They check his oxygen levels but often he is too wriggly. He is very active generally so never really rests but he just isn’t exerting enough to explain how fast his breathing is. He isn’t lethargic or unwell and he isn’t struggling to breathe (no indrawing or nostril flaring), he is just breathing quickly. I am a very anxious mother definitely, and maybe that’s all it is, but I just feel like something is wrong.
