30lb 16 month old

My beautiful DD is 16 months old and weighs over 30lbs. I actually haven’t weighed her for a while because it’s making me so anxious, do we need to see the GP?

She does look enormous and we get constant comments on it. I’m sure people must think we feed her MacDonalds and chocolate all day long.

I spoke to the health visitor when she first started weaning as she gained fast and jumped from 75th to 95th centile. I’m pretty sure she’s off the charts now. She actually walked early and is a confident walker now, I’m trying to encourage her to walk wherever possible.

Today has been typical food wise, breakfast porridge, fruit bake snack, cheese sandwich, yoghurt and apple slices for lunch, baked cod, mash potato, broccoli and fruit purée for pudding. I’ve cut right back on snacks, she only drinks water during the day, I still bf morning and bedtime.

I’m worried there’s something else going on or am I overfeeding her somehow? She has an older brother who is perfectly average sized and eats the same but admittedly has been a ball of energy since birth and never sits still

What size are the portions?

Also, she's having fruit three times a day, which may not be a bad thing, but it depends on the portion size.

My 3 year old weighs 28 lb but then so does my 20 month old nephew. Think it really depends on body type, activity levels etc. My daughter is like a bean pole and eats loads but then she has so much energy (and I'm talking literally cannot sit still, doesn't watch tv, even arms and legs flailing while she eats). If you're worried maybe just get a professional opinion, but I'm sure it's not a problem xx

So it’s a kids bowl of porridge, she never finishes it and a lot gets smushed around the plate but I can definitely make sure that’s a smaller amount. Apple slices she’ll have 2-3 thing slices. The fruit bake is one of those kiddilicious things, that is probably bad as full of sugar. The fruit purée was just a small bowl of apple and banana whizzed up. So it seems like I can definitely cut back on the sugary things. I suppose I feel I need to give her something as ‘afters’ her brother has fruit or yoghurt after both lunch and dinner but he doesn’t snack so I don’t tend to worry about that

If she's active and her diet is healthy (it sounds it) I wouldn't sweat it. Some kids are bigger, at that age I'd like to think she has plenty of time to even out. I really wouldn't make it a thing, it's not like you're feeding her kitkats for breakfast and let her PlayStation all day.

I'd get advice from the public health nurse because they are seeing babies all the time.
