Fever and a rash

10 month old came down with a fever on Saturday and was a bit grizzly...thinking it was teething we got on our flight to Europe as planned. On Sunday her fever was much worse (highest was 39.6) and in the evening we took her to the hospital as she started to vomit. They did lots of tests (bloods, urine etc) and reassured us that it was just a virus and she'd be fine. The next day the fever had broken but she was tired and grizzly and she's stayed that way. Yesterday afternoon a rash started appearing and today it's all over her face and torso. It blanches when pressed but does seem itchy on her face. She's been off her food the whole time and only really wants boob. Can someone reassure me that this is just a post-viral rash, roseola etc? Sorry for the long post!

Ah, poor wee thing. No one on the Internet can really say, but, I had a rashy baby... The minute the fever broke after a viral illness a rash like that would break out. He's 14 now and still the same!

Aveeno always helped soothe it.

Just don't be afraid to go back and get a doctor to check them over. Hope he's OK... And you, it's so bloody worrying, isn't it?

Has she any allergies OP?

If you're still worried about her, won't do any harm taking her back.

My ds always gets a viral rash at the end of viral infections just as you think he's starting to perk up the rash appears making you think the illness is getting worse but it's just post viral. Post viral rash can last up to 2 weeks according to NHS website but in my experience with ds his usually only lasts 3-5 days. If fever comes bk or she stops drinking or becomes lethargic etc then take her back to see someone wherever you are but if she otherwise starts to slowly improve rather than go downhill I would ignore the rash.

Thank you for your messages-very reassuring! She's been getting much better and today she finally seems back to her normal smiley self. Think it must have been roseola as it seems to match all the symptoms...scary but not serious thankfully Smile
