Bow legs - 6 year old

I'm hoping that this doesn't sound too odd. My legs are bowed and I didn't find this out until secondary school when other children started pointing it out, laughing at my legs and generally making horrible comments. I've spent all of my adult life being aware of my legs - not wearing shorts, skirts or a bikini etc. Anyway, a few weeks ago I saw that my 6 year olds legs are the same shape as mine. I have a diamond shape just under my knees when I put my legs together and sadly so does she. Now I've noticed it I can't stop thinking and worrying about it. Looking back at photos, her legs weren't bowed until recently. I've decided to take some photos of her legs to my GP (I can't take my daughter as I don't want her to start thinking she's got something wrong with her and give her a complex). I was just wondering if anyone else had been in a similar position? Are there exercises I can do with her? I'm so upset because quite honestly my legs have depressed me for years and the thought of my daughter being the same breaks my heart. Thank you in advance for any replies.

see the gp for a vit d blood test.
dc might need insoles or physio exercises and supplements (she should have vit d supplements anyway)

Thanks for your reply. I really hope it can be improved like that and she hasn't just inherited bad legs from me.

looks like there are treatments for it in the US at least...

GP isn't going to be able to assess it without seeing the patient.

Mrsmaisel - thank you.

Nocoolnamesleft - yes I know that. I was hoping she'd look at the photos and say "try these exercises, if no improvement in 6 months come back" or something like that! Surely you can understand that I don't want to give her a complex about her legs until its absolutely necessary? I don't want her to think "mummy thinks I've got funny legs" unless she really has to! Its not easy.

Kate Moss has bow legs, so maybe your DD will grown up to be a supermodel!

It’s hard not to worry. My DD has enormous feet and I worry that it will affect her when she’s older.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth thank you for your positivity. Hopefully your daughter will be lovely and tall and the rest of her will catch up with her feet! Our daughters can be supermodels together.
