Preventing chickenpox in hospital

DD has been exposed to chickenpox twice in the last week so we think there's a moderate chance she'll get it. No big deal overall. however, she has to attend an appointment at the hospital today and I'm feeling a bit concerned she's contagious and that's clearly not good for the hospital. If I asked them for a mask for her, would that help to stop the spread? Or is that only effective for people exposed to her?

Incubation period is 10-21 days and they are only contagious 1-2 days before spots appear and until they crust over. In the absence of any symptoms I'd carry on as usual

We did. I made her use the anti bacterial stuff and sat her far away from others. I was a bit traumatised but the newborn on the other side of the waiting room, but reminded myself that in the unlikely event she's contagious, she was far away. The hospital was relaxed - they said they didn't worry until the point at which the spots come up. So I guess no big deal.

After all this, i hope she bloody gets it. The anticipation is killing me!! Grin I would like to get her vaccinated but she's a nightmare - has had meltdowns for every vaccination so far, including her very first one at 4 weeks for TB which required me getting an extension on our parking at hospital as she was so upset I couldn't actually put her in the car and leave, even though I'd already paid for the parking!!!!
