Child back pain

My 8yo has been complaining of back pain (mid back, down spine) for a while now. I'd put it down to growing pains but now am starting to wonder. Anyone else come across this?

Just bumping this thread for you, OP. Hope your DC is okay. Do they play any sports or do anything that might cause problems? Trampoline, that kind of thing?

How long have they been complaining about it? If it's been more than a few weeks, I'd definitely think about seeing your GP.

My Ds is 14 and also suffers from daily back pain. We have been seeing an occupational therapist for issues with his fine motor skills but she has also been giving him exercises for his back and leg pain. She has suggested that it is probably due to the rapid growth in his teenage years but will be referring him on if things have not improved with exercises when he sees her in a few weeks time.

It's probably worth you checking with the gp to put your mind at rest, they may have some advice or suggest physio and exercises.

Thank you! We've been to the GP and referred for physio. Recently gave up a sport and wonder if that's why his back is weaker.

Glad you've seen the GP now - it's always best to get things checked out (even if just for peace of mind!) Hopefully the physio will get things back on track. Flowers

Could it be a muscle strain or injury of some kind? In general growing pains are felt in legs and thighs. If you’re concerned I’d take your little one to the doctors x
