Hi
My eldest daughter is is currently under lots of investigation in regards to her health she is 12 and taking up to 19 tablets a day to help her manage her symptoms.

14 of those are paracetamol and Ibuprofen. She only takes them when she needs them but there are often needed to get threw school. I was wondering if any one has any ideas of ways of relieving pain that may help her as this much pain relief long term is not good

Thank you for getting this far

What do you mean by 14 tablets of paracetamol and ibuprofen?

What dosage of them is she taking? Do you know you can addicted to ibuprofen and that maybe the symptoms she is experiencing are actually pain rebound.

Is your GP aware to the amount of painkiller you daughter is taking or only investigating her symptom? Paracetamol is very dangerous for the liver at high doses.

What strength for paracetamol and ibuprofen? How many mg?
Overuse of pain medication might actually feed the pain system and you feel pain because you are not faking painkillers not because of what caused the pain in the first place.
Have you seen a neurologist for neuropathy? Have you been referred to a pain management ? How old is you daughter? What was the origin of pain? Traumas or illness? Does she have other conditions? Some genetic disorders have associated neuropathy

Your doctors should be suggesting other things that may help and are suitable. Adults use massage and relaxation/breathing techniques amongst other things. I would think they would be fine for children too but I would ask advice from your GP/Consultant.

I hope your daughter is ok, it must be awful for her to be dealing with so much pain at such a young age. Let's hope they find out what is causing it quickly and are able to help her.

She needs gastroprotectants as a minimum from the GP taking that many NSAIDs daily
