Crumpet holes on the heel!

My 12 yo DD has a strange cluster or two of "crumpet holes" (it's the only way I can describe it!) on the heel of her foot. She has no other symptoms. She has no problem walking on the foot. I've looked it up on Dr Google but it doesn't look like athlete's foot or verrucas. After PE this week I will wash her trainers on a high temp this weekend! Can anyone identify it so I can avoid bothering the GP and go straight to the pharmacist instead? TIA.

It looks like verrucas to me.

Lllot5 · 30/04/2019 19:42

Yep verrucas I’d say

Fudgenugget · 30/04/2019 19:42

I couldn't find a matching image on Google. Damn. I'll get her to the GP then.

Yes, looks like verrucas to me too.

Thanks for your advice, I'll call the GP in the morning.

You don't need to go to a GP for verrucas - just go to the pharmacist.

Hi foot health specialist here! Looks like either pitted keratitis, which needs to be seen for a specialist cream or verrucae, however i would go towards pitted k judging by the photo. Definately not atheletes foot. If I were you I would visit your local foot health professional or podiatrist to confirm and treat. Unfortunately many gp's are not great with foot issues, so if you want it solving quickly i would take your DD to a specialist.

Shock you don't need a GP Appointment!

Get some cream from the pharmacy.

Definitly verruccas. I had a big cluster like this in high school...sooo annoying. Make sure theyre covered if she swims so not to pass to friends. You can get a gel for them that sets

This worked for us

I had a few that looked exactly like that, tried everything to get rid of them. Over the counter stuff, prescription potions, chiropodist freezing them. Nothing worked until l read about duct / gaffer tape. I am not kidding.
I cut tiny squares of gaffer tape and covered them, airtight. Made sure to remove and replace every couple of days. After 3/4 weeks the blighters were gone. You have to be very careful that you let the skin breathe occasionally... probably best done over the holidays so you can keep an eye on them.

Pitted keratolysis, don't know why it came up wrongly.

Folks, this is NOT definitely Verrucae, if fact the more i look at the pic the less I think so. GP is not the most effective route either.

BlackPrism · 30/04/2019 20:20

Listen to the expert^ podiatrist.

Threeformeandhe · 01/07/2021 20:55

If anyone is reading this in desperation (as I was) please don’t do what I did and believe it is pitted keratolysis based on this thread 😩😩😩. Spent months treating for pitted keratolysis- losing my mind and worrying over it when it turns out they actually were verrucas. Type 2 apparently. Using Salatac gel successfully after podiatrist gave them a good scraping and applied silver nitrate for a couple of weeks.
