Sunken Fontanelle worried about dehydration

Hey looking for advice, my 9 month old daughter has been out of sorts now for around 3 weeks, I have had her at the doctors a number of times each time being told she has a virus. Anyway the past 2 days she has refused all bottles and will take a sip of water then refuse more (she is also teething I might add) anyway I've noticed wet nappies have reduced considerably she went to bed last night at 6pm and got up at 7am this morning and there was only one little pee in her nappy. She has had 2 wet nappies today but her fontanelle has also sunk I am not sure at what point does dehydration become concerning and when and who to contact! I feel like I'm starting to waste the doctors time as each time I'm told her numbers are fine and she has a virus, any advice appreciated

Take her to a walk in centre tonight

Any major concern with a youngster call 111 or in an emergency 999. With my kids I know when they are 'really poorly'. Lathargic, failing to respond, sleepy all the time, really high temp that doesn't respond to medication, unidentified rash....these would all concern me.

Sounds dehydrated OP, please ring 111, best to be on the safe side. Little ones can change so quickly with symptoms

Spicypizza · 28/04/2019 18:41

I would ring 111. Let them advise you. They were very helpful when dd was poorly at 6 weeks old.

I'd be concerned enough to to go a walk in centre or call 111. Hope she's ok.

111 or out of hours gp

Walk in centre.
You will get your child seen quicker rather than waiting for call backs etc, and they need to be seen tonight from what you've described.

Thank you everyone she just took 4 ounces, the first milk she has had in over 48 hours!! I will see how she is in another hour or so and if still showing signs of dehydration I will call, just hate the feeling of people thinking I'm being a hypochondriac first time mum and I really wasn't sure with this one!

You wouldn’t be treated as a hypochondriac and if concerned you should get her examined. When my children were tiny I would take a syringe and every few minutes I would syringe water into their mouths, it can quickly help them hydrate. Sometimes they might have got a bit stroppy but you just have keep at with lots of distractions.

There is no way I would be delaying calling in this situation op. You are a concerned and caring mother....they are there to help so please call x
