Is it chicken pox?

DD has around 15 spots on her chest and neck. She had a fluid filled spot on her bum at the weekend but also had nappy rash so I assumed it was that. Some are really tiny but about a third are fluid filled. She's been slightly grouchy the last couple of days but has been fine today running around and out and about. No other symptoms. Could it be chicken pox? She's 18 months. Not been scratching.

It certainly could be. Ds started with just one spot on his chest. I thought it was just a zit and sent him off to school. That evening his chest and back were plastered in spots, both fluid filled and not. I bet by tomorrow morning you’ll be in no doubt if it is chicken pox.

More spots this morning, definitely chicken pox, although she's really happy in herself, much more so than the last few days. Should I be expecting her to get really ill now?

My son was not himself, a bit grumpy and had runny nose.
I noticed some small spots in crease of his elbows and behind his knees (not fluid filled) woke up next day with 5/6 around his mouth (fluid filled and then the ones behind his knees & elbows did too) chemist confirmed chicken Pox.
He was fine after the spots came out, seemed very well. If I couldn't see his spots I would have forgotten he was "unwell"

That's useful to know thank you. Should I get someone medical to confirm it? How long is it usually until they crust over so we can go out? Sorry for the questions, DD is my only child so never had this before.

I went to the chemist because I wasn't sure if it was chicken pox, as they weren't pus filled at first, (when my DD had it 9 years ago she was covered with pus filled spots!)
I was told he could go back to Preschool when the last spot had A rusted cover!

  • crusted over! Not rusted Cover Blush

It can take 7-14 days to crust over I think!

Normally crust over within 5-7 days. My dd was back to nursery after a week off

Ahh OK it could be a long week in the house then! Thank you for the replies.
