My dd started her periods 9 months ago, but for the past 3 months hasn't had a period. I am qondering if this is due to things settling down, and thinking of taki g her to see the GP if she doesn't have a period next month.

Does anyone have a dd who may be similar?

Probably best to take her for a check up to make sure there’s no underlying issue

My dd - 15 - had this and I took her to the GP who said at this age she may not be ovulating every month and not to worry unless it was six months or more without aperiod.

My DD once went 9 months without a period. She still doesn’t have them monthly even though they started 4 years ago. All is fine with her.

Has she done a pregnancy test?

Topseyt · 25/04/2019 00:20

Are there any other issues?

My DD (now 16)was going for long stretches without. She was very sporty, outwardly anyway. She has mental health issues too though and wasn't eating anywhere near enough, so her body weight dropped far too low and her periods stopped for months.

She is now under an eating disorders team and has now returned to a healthier weight. She is now back at a level where we have been told that they may return in the next few weeks.

I am not saying that is the problem, just that many factors can affect this. Starting with a visit to the GP is a good idea.

My first 2 thoughts were what is her weight, and is she pregnant?
My DD’s were very sporty at this age and had irregular periods.
To GP for check up would be my plan

LordoftheRinse · 25/04/2019 00:26

I’d go to a GP just to be sure all is fine, but if she’s quite active and weighs little then she may not have regular periods. Also have you done a pregnancy test?

SallyGardens · 25/04/2019 01:20

My DD went 9/10 months without one when she was 15. GP did blood tests which resulted in a referral to an endocrinologist where she was diagnosed with both hypothyroidism and PCOS. We're not in the UK though and I understand getting referrals and then treatment can be an issue there.

Pregnant
Eating disorder
On the mini pill

My dd does gymnastics twice a week and goes to park run. Also always on the trampoline so quite sporty but she is a good weight.

No mental health issues and I think she would not be pregnant as rarely socialises, no parties or hanging out, only goes to school & gymnastics.

Thanks for replies will visit GP.

She should do a pregnancy test before taking her to the doctors.

Applejack87 · 30/04/2019 12:44

At her age the hormones are all over the place periods take time to regulate
When I was younger my periods were never regular every 34 days this was normal for mf there was even times when I missed the occasional month again nothing wrong
Try not to worry maybe speak to your gp for peace of mind

Happyspud · 30/04/2019 12:45

Is she very thin? Any chance of pregnancy?
