Nosebleeds

DS12 has always suffered with nosebleeds, usually when he has a cold. He copes really well with them and it doesn't faze him. My brother always had them as a kid and I know they're quite common. I started getting them when I was doing my a levels and had cauterisation, as did my dad when he was a student. DS has had a couple that have lasted a long time and he's just had 2 heavy ones this morning. Hes just getting over a cold and there was quite a lot if mucus. I've never taken him to the doctors about them as I dont think he has them regularly enough for it to be considered a problem. He did have one not long after starting high school in September, and he was sent home. I don't want it to start affecting his school work.has anyone had any experience with nosebleeds in kids? Would you take him to the doctor?

Yes I'd go to the gp. Dd had them and was given a nasal spray to start with then antihistamines and then ended up getting her nose cauterised as she wad getting nosebleeds at school which was disrupting her work

Thanks @dementedpixie, I'll make an appointment for him. Can I just ask, what is the purpose of antihistamines for this?

They didn't know if it was hayfever related so she tried them first to see if they helped.

Touchwood we’re ok so far this year.

dS had quite a few nosebleeds last spring. We got an antihistamine and it seemed to stop it
