Chicken pox out and about

So it seems my 18 month old has chicken pox.
He doesn’t attend nursery or any groups, but we do walk to school every day to get his older sister.

What’s the general consensus on taking him while he has chicken pox? We do stand around waiting for 5/10 minutes, often talking to people so not from a distance.

Should I be making arrangements whilst he’s ill?

Until the last spot has crusted over he's contagious and it's pretty much airborne so anyone who stands near him is at risk of catching this, consider adults who've never had it or children who may have someone at home with a compromised immune system etc. My advice would be to keep him house bound.

Well. You could have killed my DC when they were immunosuppressed had you chatted to me for 5-10 minutes at the school gate.

Yes, there will no doubt be pregnant mums picking up older children and chicken pox can be very dangerous for their unborn babies if they themselves are not immune.
There are also babies, children and some adults that can become very ill if they catch the chicken pox virus.
I'd be furious if someone brought a contagious child with chicken pox to the school gate, so irresponsible.

This is a tricky one as you cant keep your other child off school either
