Chicken pox exposure after vaccine

We decided to give DS the chicken pox vaccine and he has now had both doses of it, 6 weeks apart.

His second and final dose was given three weeks ago and the pharmacist said he'd have full immunity 6 weeks after that.

However he was at a party last weekend and one of the children there came out in spots the day after the party. DS didn't interact much with him but was in the same room for 2 hours.

I'm a bit worried he might still be susceptible to it as his vaccine wasn't yet fully effective and would hate to have put him through 2 jabs for him to still get it!

Has anyone had a similar experience or any thoughts? Thank you.

NHS says 90% of children are immune after the first dose. Other countries have years between doses. So it's a small risk. If he did catch it, it may be very mild.

Ah thanks Orangepear, I missed that on the NHS site, very reassuring to know! Smile
