Optic nerve Drusen and visual snow??

Anyone know anything about the above please?

DS has been diagnosed with Drusen in both eyes, more in one than the other.
And probably visual snow too.

Hi Op - what symptoms is your DS getting and what would you like to know?

My dd has drusens, picked up at her first optician appointment. At first she was seen twice a year at the eye hospital but this is now gone to yearly. It doesn't affect her, her vision is fine.

Apologies for disappearing.

DS has had spots in his vision for a long while now, couple of years I suppose, that led me to taking him back early to the optician, who prescribed glasses.
These haven't helped his spots, he's been on 6 monthly reviews.

I then took him to a new optician who does the eye photography and they noticed the optic nerve was blurred or something, so referred to the local hospital.

They've found drusen on both eyes, one has more than the other.

Since my original post he's had an MRI, which was clear and has now been referred on to Moorfields for eye ultrasound.

Sounds as if they hospital are investigating fully, which is great. ON drusen are relatively common and usually asymptomatic, although they do slightly increase the likelihood of retinal problems.

What exactly is your son seeing spot-wise? Are they black/transparent spots that move when you try to look at them? Visual snow basically like looking at snow on the TV. I posted on this thread a while back.

Are they more like that OP describes?

From googling I've concluded it must be visual snow.
Also from Google it appears that v.s. And drusen go hand in hand.

It must be so irritating for him.

There have been reports about an association between macula drusen and visual snow, but disc drusen are not the same. The link below explains the difference (although it’s a bit more complex).
