Chicken pox with no spots?

Has anyone's DC has chicken pox but no spots? Going around the nursery for the sixth time since DC1 started and he has still not caught it. Last time everyone else who had not had it previously caught it, without exception.

During one bout, he had a fever for a day and was obviously unwell, but no spots. I asked the doctor and they said, no spots no chicken pox, but that kids could have full immunity after having chicken pox with only one spot coming up.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I never had chicken pox, but have been tested and I have immunity. My eldest had about 4 spots (and promptly infected everyone else he knew) my youngest I suspect had it recently with no obviously spots, like you going round nursery. You can never definitely say they’ve got no spots can you? They might just have one spot on their head.

It is possible to only have a few spots and then it’s over with. My brother only had a few and he’s immune to them now. Could you have missed them?

DD was really poorly before the spots come out, she was poorly for a few days, started to perk up then the spots come out.

When DS had them he wasn’t ill beforehand. I put him in the bath, noticed a couple spots, put him bed and by the next morning - pickled!!

It does seem to be going around atm...

I think for chicken pox you would definitely need the spots. The children I look after, the oldest 2 children have only just got it, aged 10 and 9. Whilst they had it and lived in the same house as their younger brother, he still managed to miss it! So either your son hasn't caught it, has immunity, or had it really mild and you missed a couple of spots?? One of the girls had it really mild, wasn't Ill and inky had about 6 spots.

Yes I suspect missing a single spot is very possible! I guess if he doesn't catch it sixth time round I can maybe get him tested.

Entirely possible, especially if the spot is in a place you don't see or notice. My DD had one spot (and a bit of a temperature). We didn't know she had chickenpox until it was almost over.

ds was in fulltime nursery from 12 months and didn't catch chicken pox until he was over 3 even though it went around the nursery 2-3 times each year.

One of the nursery staff caught it 3 times herself in that time, for some reason she cant develop an immunity to it. Think I'd be looking for a different career!!!

I've never outwardly had it, despite being the oldest of 5 and having been around many cousins and friends who had it.

I was tested for immunity during 2 pregnancies and am immune. The doctor said that I've probably had it but maybe had only 1 spot or a couple in my hairline or something.

I've just been to drs as my dd3 has a rash that started turning to blisters but confined to 1 limb. He said it looks like a secondary case of chicken pox and I told him shes not had them before even when her siblings got them. He said if she was unwell or had a single spot around that time then chances are she had a very mild case when younger and it's been easily missed.

My first dd had it so badly and got so infected that we have had our other dc vaccinated
