DS2 has had 3 lots of diarrhoea this evening. He seems absolutely fine in himself but there's no way I can send him to school tomorrow can I?
Thankfully Wednesday is my day off anyway and hopefully he'll be ok to go back by then.

Technically he shouldn't be back at school until 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea, so he shouldn't be back at school until at least Thursday provided he has no further episodes.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 01/04/2019 21:55

I meant Wednesday is my day off so I don't need to worry about taking that day off work.

No. Keep him home. No one else needs to catch it.

Eatmycheese · 01/04/2019 22:05

You really have to ask?

MyGastIsFlabbered · 01/04/2019 22:15

Well apparently so or I wouldn't have posted would I? Hmm

Don’t be ridiculous
You knew before starting this thread - surely to goodness - that a young child with diarrhoea or vomiting is supposed to be off school or Nursery for 48 hours.

Were you looking for someone to suggest taking them in regardles?
🙄

MyGastIsFlabbered · 01/04/2019 22:42

ODFOD

I was hoping for some sort of miracle, maybe a bit of sympathy. I'm a single parent who can't afford to lose a days pay.

Urgh so frustrating when he's probably absolutely fine but you just cant risk it! Such a pain, losing a days pay really is so annoying. Still, if he is feeling fine you can have a nice mother-son day together and make the most of it. Or if he's not well, duvet day!

Eatmycheese · 01/04/2019 22:46

If you want to tell me to fuck off then do it properly. Might be therapeutic.
I have every sympathy for you. It’s - pardon the pun - shit. But my point was that you know the answer to this question already.

Now if you’d just ranted about it and said you were totally pissed off then........

MyGastIsFlabbered · 01/04/2019 23:04

As I said, I was hoping for a miracle...like the headteacher of his school somehow appearing and telling me it was fine to take him in.

Maybe I phrased my post awkwardly but I'm going through a particularly shitty period of insomnia and have been awake since 3am.

It wouldn't be quite so bad if he actually appeared poorly but he's just as chipper as ever.

In my dc school you would get unauthorised abscence for keeping a child of for 48 hours rather than 24.

MyDcAreMarvel · 01/04/2019 23:09

*off

Haworthia · 01/04/2019 23:12

I am shocked that some schools have a 24 hour policy, and wonder what their D&V infection rates must be like.

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/04/2019 10:43

I know the same school gave my dd a bowl to vomit in, she was only in year one!
But then they get to send text like this which is all they care about.

I'm going to have to take tomorrow off aren't I?
