Hi all,

New here so please bare with me :)

My DD was born 12 weeks ago with an Imperforate Anus, which basically means she has no hole in her bum.

She has an emergency operation at 1 day old and now has a stoma

This was all such a shock to us and as I had a traumatic birth as well has taken a bit of time to get our heads round.

We're awaiting further tests and operations but what I was hoping is to find other families who have been through this / are going through this. I've been unable to find any support groups online unfortunately

Just feel a little alone with this condition and unsure on how my DD is going to be when older

Thank you for reading Smile

Wow. I had no idea this was even possible. Must be so worrying for you.

This one is U.K. www.vacterl-association.org.uk/vacterl/anal/imperforate-anus.htm

There are a few FB groups but I don’t do Facebook so not sure where they are based but no matter what country you could still message with people who understand or could give you info/outlook. Could the hospital social/support worker not put you in touch with others? I hope you manage to find some support Flowers

Have a look at the Pullthrunetwork. It's an American site but full of really useful info.
Went through the same thing 12 years ago and it is a long process which is still ongoing. However, having as much info as possible really helps and establishing a good relationship with your consultant and a GP is essential.
