Third Nipples

Hiya, I’m assuming I’ve popped this into the correct thread!

My dd1 is 7, and has a third (and possibly even a fourth) nipple. There is a very noticeable one about an inch under her one nipple, and then a much smaller indent under the other in the same position.

It was noticed at birth, and HVs and MWs said that it wasn’t anything to worry about at all. Dd1 has never noticed them til today!

Whilst she was getting ready after her bath to tonight, she asked if it was normal to have three boobs. I said a lot of people have three nubs, and she then asked “will I still have big boobs like yours”. My initial reaction was a giggle but could see she wanted an actual answer so I apologised straight away and said we won’t know what size they’ll be we can’t control that, it’ll be a wait and see until you’re older.

I’m now wondering if when she does begin puberty and her boobs start to come through, will these extra nipples cause any issues or deformities?
I’m not worried as such but just curious, and if there is a possibility that there may be an issue I’ll be ready to potentially address it with her at the time if she needs reassurance 😊

I had a third nipple. It grew a tiny bit of tissue when I hit puberty.

It never really bothered me but I had it removed in my late 20s when I had some large fibroids removed. The surgeon suggested it as he said it could get bigger if I got pregnant. I'm not sure how likely that was though. I'd had fibroids removed prior to that and it wasn't mentioned.

I have a 3rd nipple underneath one of my boobs. It's right under where the underwire of my bra sits and has never grown or caused any problems, including during 2 pregnancies and breastfeeding.
It's only ever been mentioned once by medics - just before an operation. They were just curious though as had never seen one before!
