...how many pens do they have?

We were advised by DS's allergy consultant that he'd need two pens to be kept at school and two for home. He has a serious nut allergy.

However, every time I go to re-order the prescription, I am told that each individual is only allowed two pens at a time and I end up having to explain/argue/cajole the GP to write two prescriptions (despite having the consultant's letter on file) and then go through the same process again at the pharmacy when they refuse to fill them!

I just wondered if other parents are experiencing the same? Or should I only be asking for two pens and getting DS (age 6) to take them to school and back with him every day?

Thanks :)

My son's best friend is extremely allergic to nuts and he has one on him/with him all the time and the mum keeps one in her purse. So one at school, one at home, one always with child, one in car.
After using an epipen you should anyway call an ambulance.
We are in Australia so not very relevant. But you should keep one with you for when visiting friends, a trip to the city, ...
I do the same with my son's asthma puffer. I have them in car, his school bag, his swimming bag, at school.....

We usually only get 2, however I went in last week as DD is going abroad with school and she suggested getting 4 this time.
