Pneumonia in 4 year old

So went to gp today. She said dd has beginnings of pneumonia.
She didn’t say anything else.
Just to give her amoxicillin for a week and if her temp doesn’t go down with paracetamol to take her to a&e.
She’s been sick for 4 days with an awful cough.
Her temp has gone down but spikes up now and again.
I’m really worried.
Anyone have experience with pneumonia?
How long till recovery?
What can I do to Help her feel better ?
Shes not eating but drinks milk.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

My DD has pneumonia when she was two. She had bacterial and viral pneumonia and was really poorly and admitted to children's ward for a couple of days.

The recovery from the acute phase was fairly quick (a week or so) but it took her 6 months to get back to full strength.

Wishing you all well

I have heard of a few people with that this week.adults though. I had it as a child and remember getting a lot of pampering and was in bed for a good while , missed school for a few weeks and couldn't go outside for ages. So lots of rest and TLC.

Children tend to recover very well and quite quickly. You might be surprised how quickly she’s up and bouncing around. Mine were back at nursery within a week. My friends son was in hospital for a couple of days, came out and they drovevto Holland the next day. He slept in the car, didn’t swim for first couple of days but was then on rapids etc. He must been about six or seven.

As long as she’s drinking eating isn’t a huge problem for a few days. Ice lollies are sometimes well received.
Keep her cool but not chilled. Regular paracetamol. If she looks worse get her seen again.

Hope she’s feeling better soon.

My son was hospitalised with pneumonia at 4. He was in for 5 days then we had to go back daily for antibiotics. He was fine in himself so we didn't know anything was wrong initially but he went downhill extremely quickly.
Had we caught it earlier it could have been treated successfully at home. He was back to his normal self within a couple of weeks

DS had it at 5 months old. He was in HDU for a week but bounced back very quickly after this.
