Rotavirus or norovirus?

DD (2.5) started up with acute diarrhea yesterday. Literally ten times yesterday evening. Then she has gone 20 times today. It’s liquid and bright yellow and seemingly uncontrollable.

She has not vomited and as far as I can tell, doesn’t feel sick.

We’ve had stomach bugs as a family before and I know the way they generally play out in each child. DD tends towards just diarrhea anyway but she has never, ever had it like this, even when we had noro last year.

Any thoughts?

Has she not had the rotavirus vaccine? My dd had rotavirus years ago (she is school
age now) and it was horrendous and lasted four days. Two days of vomiting and two days of diarrhoea. Hope your dd starts to feel better soon.

The rotavirus vaccine makes it less severe but doesn’t stop a child catching it. When my DDhad it the doctor said typically rotavirus affects children badly but adults don’t get poorly from it, perhaps a mild tummy upset. Whereas norovirus affects children and adults equally. So I guess you’ll find out if you get sick as well!
