Fred and Flo Nappies Supplier Issues!!!!

So we have used these nappies for around three weeks and I did notice a rash on my son's back but we've both been under the weather with viral infections so I put it down to a heat rash and then today I had a phone call from nursery to say that he'd had a bad reaction to his nappy. When we collected him and inspected the skin irritation it was at the top of his thighs and red raw. I won't put pictures up as not really helpful to the point of this post but the irritation wasn't a regular nappy rash and had clearly been caused by an irritant from the nappy. Wether it was chaffing from the material or something else I don't know but I took the remaining nappies to Tesco's to be sent for testing.

I then had a look through Mumsnet, twitter and Facebook and found hundreds of posts of infants having the same reactions to these nappies so I contacted Tesco customer service stating that many of the posts said that people felt their complaints were 'brushed to one side' or not taken seriously or put down to normal nappy rash. I don't think this can be put down to nappy rash. The positioning of this on my son and the look of it is different to normal everyday nappy rash and, my goodness, we have some horrible instances with nappy rash so I know this wasn't a normal bog standard nappy rash. His reaction looked similar if not the same as the other reactions parents had been posting and complaining about.

Tesco online customer service then told me they were aware of the complaints regarding the nappies causing skin irritation and they were 'hoping' that the supplier would make necessary improvements to the Fred and Flo nappies.

To be honest this just upset me even more that they are acknowledging the issue but are continuing to sell the nappies 'hoping' that the supplier makes them better. To me that's just causing lots of unnecessary upset and distress for the infants and toddlers using the nappies... as well as the parents.

I've asked that this issue is escalated and I've been told that a manager will be calling me tomorrow to discuss the matter further.

I just wanted to create a bit of awareness about this. Maybe warn people to use another nappy until the supplier has made these necessary changes.

This isn't just something trivial like a tin opener not working well or the beans tasting a bit different this is causing server skin irritation to hundreds of children. I'm quite shocked that it's been allowed to continue.

I used Tesco own nappies for my first, they were great. Used them for baby until before Xmas when they changed to Fred and Flo.

It wasn't simply a re-branding but a change to cheap, horrible nappies! The new ones are shit compared to the old ones.

Was recommended Aldi own brand.

We always used pampers but you usually have to buy in bulk to get the offers and due to us trying to potty train I just wanted small packs weekly and didn't want to pay £8 per pack so we decided to try Fred and Flo and actually I quite liked them for dryness.

I have screen shot as many complaints as possible and read were it says that it's just a rebranding and the nappies haven't changed but lots of people are saying they smell, look, and feel different.

Also I noticed that Tesco Loves Baby were produced in Germany whereas Fred and Flo are produced in USA.

I assuming the change is probably Brexit related but how can they be the same when produced in different countries.

We got a ton of Fred and flo with our last big shop, no reactions but I would say they leak through at least once a day, usually overnight. I’m now changing DS4 twice overnight to try and stop the leaks.
