Chickenpox in 15m old... Any tips?

DD has chickenpox at 15m old. Bit inevitable really as it's doing the rounds at nursery. I have baby piriton and virasoothe gel for her but wondering if anyone has any tips to make her more comfortable.

Poxcilin mousse - lifesaver when my 18 month old got chicken pox!

Poxclin, virasoothe, and porridge oats in tights in the bath. I’m sure you already know, but you mustn’t give ibuprofen

MrsWidgerysLodger · 03/03/2019 06:21

Oh I'd not heard anything from poxcillin. I shall send DH on the hunt. I did know about no ibuprofen but thank you for checking. I've spoken to two mums this week who had no idea!

My DS got them at 10mths the porridge oat baths worked really well.

Dont give nurofen.

Mine were always the sickest on day 3 of the spots appearing (temperature) and were ok after that.

I hope they feel better soon x

The porridge bath really was the most effective thing for us. DS has just had the pox. We’d do porridge baths 3-4 times a day, piriton every 4 hours, calpol every 6 and poxcllin at every nappy change, with top ups of virasoothe if he started scratching.

Dead Sea Salts! Our some had them 2 week's ago and we bathed him in water with just a handful of Westlab Dead Sea Salts every day and he healed really quickly with no itching at all!! You can even get westlab dead sea salts for kids from Holland and Barrett if you're more comfortable using something designed for children specifically. Hope this helps xx
