DS 11 in tears after the dentist tonight told him he has lots of missing adult teeth. Can anyone explain what likely to happen next?

My sister has missing teeth
She has false ones

Talk to your dentist

My son has no adult teeth at all. After an X-ray (because he wasn't losing baby teeth) we saw that he was only born with one set!

He has had some of the front baby teeth built up to look like adult teeth. He will need a denture if he loses any before the age of 21 when he can have full implants.

Dh is missing 3 adult teeth, nor has he any wisdom teeth. It's given him no problem.

I had 8 adult teeth out due to over crowding when I was 8 and 12, so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I've got three missing, 30 now and still got my baby teeth! Will then have fakes when they go, I think it's much more common than you imagine and won't affect her for a very long time. Oh and my mouth looks normal, I don't have freakishly different size teeth or anything!

My 16 year old is missing 2 pre molars. I was gutted, (and thought it was something I had done when pg) but dentist said his baby teeth, which are quite big) will probably last until he's around 30-40, and then he can have implants. Hopefully, implants won't be as prohibitively expensive by then...

I couldn’t help but feel gutted!
The over crowding is an interesting point though! Hopefully the more detailed scan will provide more positive news

I have 4 missing adult molars. I still have the baby teeth in and they are still hanging on even though I'm 47. My dentist expects them to last 2 or 3 more years.

My mouth is also a bit overcrowded, so when they fall out I'm going to get Invisalign braces to close the gap. Ask for a couple of dental opinions. My previous dentist was adamant that they needed to be extracted and replaced with implants 10 years ago- implants at the time were astronomically expensive. I went elsewhere and now have a much cheaper plan of action once they do come out.

I have 2 missing adult teeth. A top and bottom molar on the left hand side. My dentist decided to take out the matching adult teeth on the right hand side when they grew. It wasn't great having the teeth out but the objective was to make sure my teeth remained symmetrical. Apparently they can move around to fill gaps and become off centre if the missing teeth are not symmetrical. Confused
It does mean I am missing 4 adult molars. I also never grew wisdom teeth so I probably have less teeth than most people. It's never caused me any problem though. I've never known any different and the teeth I have work just fine!

I am missing the last 2 back molars at the bottom (so no corresponding milk teeth). Had to have one of the corresponding upper molars taken out as had overgrown as no bottom tooth to stop it. No wisdom teeth either. Dentist told me it was genetic (I am adopted so no idea about parents’ teeth). However DS(14) is missing one front adult tooth, so still has the corresponding milk tooth. Dentist hasn’t mentioned anything about implants but assume that may be an option if that tooth comes out at a later date.
