Thank you to those who helped previously. Anyone fancy a gander at some blood results?

A had a long thread about worries regarding my son. I can't find it using my phone, annoyingly.

We've had results back and have been given a diagnosis of celiacs disease.

Anyone fancy a look at his bloods? Hoping someone might be able to shed some light

I'm not sure if they are paediatric or adult ranges quoted. Did they say he's anaemic? The coeliac test result isn't on those pages unless I missed it. My son is going for tests for similar reasons could you link to your previous thread?

Coeliac is easy to adjust to after a while my daughter hasn't looked back.

He's been prescribed iron supplements.

The celiacs diagnosis is a bit weird. He's already off gluten so we for a negative on the gluten sensitivity. They said it's a false negative and the symptoms we had alongside his bloods (the also tested for the celiac genes which came back positive) strongly suggest celiacs disease. My baby is only just two. Feels like such a life changer

low iron and high inflammation markers.

he needs to be treated for anaemia and go on a strict gluten free diet.

good luck!

greenelephantscarf · 16/02/2019 13:49

the blood test is (from what I know) only reliable if positive. so it's very unlikely not to be coeliacs.

Notmyideamovingon · 16/02/2019 13:57

There are so many great gluten free products these days please don't worry.Once he's gluten free and his iron sorted it will feel so much better. You get free coeliac uk membership for a year its full of really valuable information. Did your consultant mention that some children struggle with dairy until the bowel heals?

Prusik · 16/02/2019 13:58

The pediatrician said he's 99% convinced it's celiacs.

I'm just not sure if the bloods should worry me

Interestingly he is currently also dairy free. The dietician mentioned sorting the celiacs issues and then trying him on a milk ladder

How come the paediatrician hasn't discussed the bloods with you?? You shouldn't need to post them on an Internet forum, where you'll get responses from many who are not medical professionals.

Kittykat93 · 16/02/2019 14:03

Sorry didn't mean that to sound snippy - I just meant you should ask the specialists what the blood results mean, not here.

Prusik · 16/02/2019 14:06

You're right. He mentioned the iron levels but nothing else. I get the impression he'll only tell you the summary that he feels you need to know. One of those "I'm the expert" types. We were only given a paper copy on the way out so I couldn't ask any questions

Could you make an appointment with a gp to go over the results?

Prusik · 16/02/2019 14:23

Hopefully that will be the plan. I'll try to get an appointment on Monday. Although mostly my GP surgery tell you that you don't need an appointment and send you on your way
