Chicken pox without rash??

My son's nursery is virtually empty as most of the kids are off with chickenpox. He's been poorly for over a week with high temperatures, snotty nose, cough but no spots.
His temperature has been very high for the last four days (39.5) but still no spots.
Is there such a thing as CP without the rash? I'm constantly on spot-watch! He's 9 months old.

Both my daughters had chicken pox back to back over Christmas, it was hell on earth. They both had it very badly and were covered from head to toe, a friends son had it at the same time however and only had two spots! I imagine if you can get away with only having one or two spots there’s no reason you could have cases with none at all, maybe it has something to do with his age. That’s so young to have it bless him, I can’t remmber if in general it’s supposed to be worse or better when they’re under a year but I remember hearing one or the other... maybe if it’s milder when they’re young that could explain it. Whatever it is I hope he feels better soon xx this has been the worst year ever for illness I’ve never seen anything like it 😩😩😩

It might mot be chicken pox at all.

My 3 year old has had a high temp for 6 days now, along with a horrible cough, bunged up and generally unwell. Seen 3 doctors who have all diagnosed different things.

It would not be possible to clinically diagnose chicken pox without any spots (could be done with a blood test - or at least that would show immunity).
